Primary News - 1st Grade

What are we busy learning in first grade? In reading we are working on utilizing reading strategies independently and retelling stories. In writing we are focused on using craft moves and thinking about our audience as we write. Math has been focused on adding and subtracting tens and ones. Lastly, in social studies we are learning about national symbols and U.S. monuments. Over the course of the next few weeks, first graders will be learning about the following: the Flag, Pledge of Allegiance, Liberty Bell, Uncle Sam, Eagle, Statue of Liberty, and the monuments in Washington D.C. (White House, Capitol, Washington Monument, and Lincoln Memorial).
