intermediate News - 4th Grade

We have loved getting to see students in person during hybrid learning. They have mastered the new routines, have been building strong relationships with their peers, and have been working hard on academics!

Our focus for topics 3 and 4 in math has been multiplication. We have been learning different strategies to solve multi-digit multiplication problems. We will be starting our long division unit next. We suggest that students start reviewing their basic division facts in preparation for long division. They may use flashcards or Fact Monster online to review these facts.

In reading, we are reading the novel Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. Throughout the novel study, students will focus on vocabulary, written responses, character analysis, and theme.

Our next writing unit is opinion. Students will learn to write a 5 paragraph essay with a thesis statement and evidence to support their opinion.

In social studies, 4th graders have been researching their famous person for our biography projects. We have been practicing note taking skills and summarizing. Our next project in social students will be a Colorado state project.

We cannot believe that we are almost halfway through the school year. Again, thank you for your patience, support at home,  and grace throughout this year.
